Edinburgh, Royal Mile
The World’s End
Introduction
The name isn’t the cheeriest, but it’s not a prediction of the apocalypse, more a nod to the fortress mentality that existed here after the Scottish defeat at the Battle of Flodden in 1513. The exterior of this traditional 16th-century pub at the foot of the Royal Mile nudged up to the Flodden Wall, which once circled and protected Edinburgh’s Old Town. Outside the walls it was another world.
